  • Given :

=> mass of ball = 250 g = 0.25 kg

=> velocity before hit = (-18)m/s

=> velocity after hit = 30m/s

=> change in time = 0.01s

  • To Find :

=> change in momentum (dP) = ?

=> Force (F) = ?

  • Formula :

=> dP = m[V2 - V1]

=> F * dt = dP [Newton's second law]

  • Calculation :

=> dP = 0.25[30 - (-18)] = 12 kg*m/s

=> F = dP/dt = 12/0.01 = 1200 N

  • Answer :

=> dP = 12 kg*m/s

=> F = 1200 N
