Gɪᴠᴇɴ :-
- Mass (m) = 500 g = 0.5 kg
- Initial velocity (u) = 20 m/s
- Final velocity (v) = 0 m/s --(At rest)
- Time taken (t) = 2 s
ᴛᴏ ғɪɴᴅ :-
- Force (F)
sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ :-
On using 1st equation of motion, we get,
➭ v = u + at
➭ 0 = 20 + a×2
➭ -20 = 2a
➭ a = -20/2
➭ a = -10 m/s²
Hence,
- Acceleration = -10 m/s²
Now,
We know that,
➭ Force = Mass × Acceleration
➭ F = m × a
➭ F = 0.5 × -10
➭ F = -50 kg. m/s or Newtons
Hence,
- Force (F) is 50 N
IMPORTANT NOTE :-
- Negative (-) sign in acceleration shows that body is decelerating.
- Negative (-) sign in force shows that force is applied in opposite directions of motion of ball.

Answer:
- Mass (m) = 500 g = 0.5 kg
- Initial velocity (u) = 20 m/s
- Final velocity (v) = 0 m/s --(At rest)
- Time taken (t) = 2 s
Force (F)
On using 1st equation of motion, we get,
➡️ v = u + at
➡️ 0 = 20 + a×2
➡️-20 = 2a
➡️L a = -20/2
➡️ a = -10 m/s²
Hence,
Acceleration = -10 m/s²
Now,
We know that,
➡️Force = Mass × Acceleration
➡️ F = m × a
➡️ F = 0.5 × -10
➡️ F = -50 kg. m/s or Newtons
Hence,
MORE INFORMATION
- Negative (-) sign in acceleration shows that body is decelerating.
- Negative (-) sign in force shows that force is applied in opposite directions of motion of ball.
