A cricket ball was moving with 15m/s.It was hint by a bat and it returned in original path with 10m/s .if the mass of the ball was 300gm . a)calculate change in momentum of ball. b)calculare force applied by bat.

Answer:

(A)

initial velocity of ball is 15m/s

final velocity of ball is 10m/s

so change is velocity = final - initial

= 10m/s-15m/s

-5m/s

mass of ball is 300 gm so,

momentum = (mass)(velocity)

= (300gm)(-5m/s)

= -1500 gm.m/s

(B)

force = (mass)(acceleration)

= (300gm)(9.8)..........we took acceleration as 9.8 because of acceleration due to gravity

= convert 300 gm to kg ....1 kg = 1000 gm so 300 gm will be 0.3 kg ...divide 300/1000

= (0.3kg)(9.8)

= 2.94 N
