to lower the impact of hurting the hands he brings his hands lower while catching the ball.this can be more justified in projectile motion...

hey mate here is ur ans

we know that if we want to make a moving body suddenly we have to apply greater force against it
so the cricketer lowers his hand so that the time for Which his force acts on the ball to stop it increases and thus he doesn't get hurt by it
