Potassium permanganate crystal has numerous particles in it coz its tightly packed and is a solid.and the water has some spaces between its particles coz its a liquid.so when we drop this potassium permanganate crystal in the water then these particles of potassium permanganate mixes in the water and fills out the gaps between the water's particles.so we can see that diffusion occurs here.
