Length of cube = 1m

Volume of cube = 1 × 1 × 1 = 1 cubic metre

Increased length of cube = 2m

Volume of new cube = 2 × 2 × 2 = 8 cubic metre

Therefore, the volume increases 8 times

Hope this helps you :)

SOLUTION

VOLUME OF CUBE = a³

a = 1m

VOLUME = 1³ = 1m³

When a is doubled = 2 × 1 = 2m

New VOLUME = 2³ = 8m³

INCREASE IN VOLUME = New Volume – First Volume

= 8 – 1 = 7m³

Hence the Volume is Increased by 7m³
