Length of the tank = L = 12 m
Breadth of the tank = B = 8m
Height of the tank = H = 6 m
Area of the Lateral surface = 2*(L + B)*H = 2*(12 + 8)*6 m^2 = 240 m^2
Area of the Base = L*B = 12*8 m^2 = 96 m^2
Total Surface Area of the open tank = (240 + 96) = 336 m^2 = Area of the iron sheet required = A
width of the iron sheet = W = 4 m
Length of iron sheet required = A / W = 336 / 4 m = 84 m
Cost of iron sheet per meter = Rs17.50
Cost of 84 m of iron sheet = Rs 17.50 * 84 = Rs 1470

Answer:

Given,

Dimensions of tank = 12m×8m×6m

Where,

length = 12 m

breadth = 8 m

height = 6 m

Area of sheet required for making the tank = Total surface area of tank with one top open

=l×b+2(l×h+b×h)=12×8+2(12×6+8×6)=96+240=336 m^2

Let l be the length of iron sheet and b be the breadth of iron sheet.b =4m

l ×b

=336

=84m

So, cost of iron sheet = 17.50×84=1470 Rs
