A cuboidal block of metal measuring 45 cm x 30 cm x 0.5 m was melted and recast into cubical blocks
each with an edge of length 3 cm.
(1) Find the number of cubes that can be made.
(II) What is the cost of polishing the surfaces of the cubes at the rate of 1.25 per cm?

answer-

volume of the cuboidal block = 45 * 30 * 50

volume of cuboid = 67500 cm cube

now, volume of cubes = 3*3*3

volume of cube = 27 cm cube

so, numer of cubes that can be made = 67500/27

=  2500 cubes

area of one face of a cube = 3*3

area of one face of a cube = 9 cm sq.

now, as there are 6 faces in a cube,

total surface area = 9*6 = 54 cm sq.

now, there are 2500 cubes

so total area to be polished = 2500*54

total area to be polished = 135000 cm sq.

cost of polishing 1 cm sq. = 1.25

so, total cost = 135000*1.25

= 168750 rupees

hope it helps

have a nice eday
