A current is passed in the conductor in downward direction and the cardboard is gently tapped.

What changes occur in the arrangement of the iron filings if

(i) the strength of the current is increased?

(ii) the single conductor is replaced by several parallel conductors each carrying the same current flowing in the same direction?

Answer:

1) Strength of induced current increased when strength of magnetic field increases. It will also increase when the number of turns are increased or if the speed of conductor increases.

2) Two parallel wires carrying currents in the same direction attract each other due to magnetic interaction between two wires carrying currents because the current in a wire produces a magnetic field and the magnetic interaction is of attractive nature when current in the two parallel wires is in the same direction.
