Given:

A current of 965 ampere is passed for ‘1’ sec through ‘1’ lit solution of 0.02N NiSO4 using Ni electrodes.

To find:

What is the new concentration of NiSO4?

Solution:

From given, we have,

A current of 965 ampere is passed for ‘1’ sec through ‘1’ lit solution of 0.02N NiSO4 using Ni electrodes.

We use the formula,

W = Z×i×t/F

W/Z = i×t/F

W/Z = (965 × 1)/96500 = 1/100 = 0.01

Equivalent of NiSO4 present initially = 1 × 0.02 = 0.02.

The new concentration of NiSO4 is 0.02 - 0.01 = 0.01

Therefore, the new concentration of NiSO4 is 0.01 N, option (1) is correct.
