From the given question the correct answer is:

150 m at 10m/s

350 m at 50m/s

Solution :

Let , complete journey of 500m/s is  z

1st part of the  distance way at 10m/s will be x

remaindar part of the way at 50 m/s will be y

So,

x+y = z

x+y=22

Let time =distance / speed

t=d/s

x/10 + (500-x)/50= 22

LCD = 50

multiply equation by 50

5x+500-x=1100

4x=600

x=150 m

150 m at 10m/s

y=z-x

=500-150

=350

350 m at 50m/s

Answer:

As per the question let us consider , following

Let , complete journey of 500m/s be z

Let , 1st part of the  distance way at 10m/s be x

 and remainder part of the way at 50 m/s be y

So,

x + y = z

x + y = 22

we know ,

time =distance / speed

t = d/s

x/10 + (500-x)/50 = 22

LCD = 50

multiply equation by 50

5x + 500-x = 1100

4x = 600

x = 150 m

150 m at 10m/s

y = z-x

=500-150

=350

350 m at 50m/s

Thus , traveler traveled 150 m at 10 m/s 350 m at 50 m/s
