A cyclist cycles 8 km at 15 km/hr and a further 4 km at 20 km/hr. Find the average speed in km/hr.

average speed in km/hr. = total distance / time taken totally

                                        =[ 8+4 ]/ [8/15 +4/20]

                                        =12/[32/60 + 12/60]

                                        =12/[42/60]

                                        =12x60/42 =12x10/7 =120/7 =17  1/7 km /hr
