A cyclist is speeding at 20 m/s on a level road taking a level circular turn of radius 200 m without reducing speed. What is minimum coefficient of static friction required between tyres and road so that cyclist take turn without slipping?
(a)0.1
(b)0.2
(c)0.25
(d)0.35

Speed of the cyclist   v=18 km/h=18×185=5 m/s

Given : Radius    r=3 m        μ=0.1

Safe limit of velocity    vs=μrg

So,   vs=0.1×10×3=1.732 m/s

Since, cyclist rides at a faster speed than safe limit. So, the cyclist slips.
