A cyclist rode 20 km. For the first 10 km his average velocity was 15 km/h. The remaining distance he traveled with average velocity of 25 km/h. Determine his average velocity over a whole path.

Answer:

T1 = 10/15 = 2/3 hours .

T2 = 10/25 = 2/5 hours .

Total T = 2/3 + 2/5 = 16/15 hours .

Total D = 20km

average velocity = Total distance / Total time

Ans: = 20/(16/15) = 20*15/16 = 18.75km/h
