Consumer Treatment in Markets

  • Consumers have always been taken for granted by Marketers. They have been treated as scapegoats.  However, in 1986 with the introduction of COPRA, the Consumer Protection Act, by the Indian Government, the consumers are treated with justice in markets.
  • COPRA has given a platform to the consumers for airing their grievances against injustices meted out by the Marketers by establishing the Consumer Protection Council.
  • It helps in protecting the consumers against unfair practices, poor quality or adulterated or damaged products.
  • It ensures Consumer Rights . It educates the Consumers of the legal rights they can exercise.
