Explanation:

i) radius of track = 400m

distance travelled by the cyclist will be

= circumference of semi circle + 1/4 of circumference of cirlce

= πr +( 1/4 * 2πr )

= πr + πr/2

taking πr common

= πr [ 1 + 1/2 ]

putting values

= 22/7 * 400 * 3/2

on solving

= 1885.71 m or 600 π m

ii) in drawing direct line from initial point to final point we get an right angle traingle making an angle of 90° at the centre

APPLYING PYTHAGORAS THEOREM

x ^ 2 = (400)^2 + (400)^2

x^2 = 160000 + 160000

x^ 2 = 320000

x = √320000

x = 565.68m

HOPE THIS HELP

and sorry if I didn't do correctly
