Given : A cylinder shaped tank with base diameter length of 6 m is standing on its base. The amount of water in the tank increases by 1500 L hourly.

To Find : How much did the water level in the tank rise in 5 hours of filling?

Solution:

The amount of water in the tank increases  in 1 hr = 1500 L

=> The amount of water in the tank increases  in 5 hr = 1500 x 5 = 7500 L

1 m³  =  1000 L

7500 L = 7.5   m³

Let say  water level increased = h m

Then volume of tank upto height h = πr²h

r = radius =  diameter /2  = 6/2  = 3 m

πr²h = 7.5

=> 3.14 ( 3)² h  = 7.5

=> h  = 0.2654  m

=> 26.54 cm
