QUESTION :

A cylindrical pillar is 50 cm in diameter and 3m in height. Find the cost of painting the curved surface of the pillar at the rate of Rs.10 per square metres.

GIVEN:

diameter  = 50cm

height = 3m

ANSWER :

Piller is in the form of cylinder

Curve surface area of piller is = 2πrh

Height if cylinder piller = 3m

Radius of the circular end of piller = 50/2=25m

➾ r =25 × 1/ 100m

➾ 0 . 25m

CURVE SURFACE AREA OF PILLER = 2πrh

➾ (2 × 22/7 × 0.25 × 3)

➾ 44×0.125

➾ 5.4m^2

_____________

Cost of painting 1 m ^2 = Rs. 10

Cost of painting 5.4m^2 area = Rs (5.4 ×10)

➾ Rs 54.0

Therefore , the cost of painting CSA of

the piller is Rs. 54 .
