A cylindrical pipe is positioned with its axis parallel to the ground. The radius is r and the axis is at height h above the ground. What is the minimum initial speed a ball must have in order to be thrown over the pipe? (The ball is thrown from the ground, h=0, and has negligible size) . Consider two cases: (a) The ball is allowed to touch the pipe (pipe is frictionless) (b) The ball is not allowed to touch the pipe.
