A cylindrical tub of radius 5 cm and length 9.8 cm is full of water. A solid in the form of a right circular cone mounted on a hemisphere is immersed in the tub. If the radius of the hemisphere is immersed in the tub. Volume of the water left into hr tub = 616.51 cm³

Given:

  • A cylindrical tub of radius 5 cm and length 9.8 cm is full of water.
  • A solid in the form of a right circular cone mounted on a hemisphere is immersed in the tub.
  • Radius of the hemi-sphere is 3.5 cm.
  • Height of the cone outside the hemisphere is 5 cm.

To find:

Volume of the water left into hr tub.

Formula used:

  • Volume of cylinder = \pi × (Radius)² × Height
  • Volume of hemi sphere = \frac{2}{3} × \pi × (Radius)³
  • Volume of cone = \frac{1}{3} × \pi × (Radius)² × Height

Explanation:

  • Initial volume of water = \pi × (5)² × 9.81

                                     =770.475 cm³

  • Volume of hemi sphere = \frac{2}{3} × \pi  × (3.5)³

                                       = 89.79 cm³

  • Volume of cone = \frac{1}{3} × \pi × (3.5)² × 5

                          = 64.14 cm³

  • Volume of hemi sphere + Volume of cone = 89.79 + 64.14 =153.93 cm³
  • Hence if A solid in the form of a right circular cone mounted on a hemisphere is immersed in the tub. That much of water will go outside the cylinder. then the remaining amount of water

      = 770.475- 153.93

      = 616.51 cm³
