Hey user

Here is your answer :-

( a - d )( a + d ) = 12

=> a² - d² = 12

=> 4² - d² = 12

=> 16 - 12 = d²

=> 4 = d²

=> d = 2 or d = - 2

Thank you.

QUESTION : find "d" in (a+d)(a-d) = 12 when a = 4

________________________________________________

ANSWER :

(a+d)(a-d) is in the form of a^2 - b^2 = (a+b)(a-b)

So,

a^2 - b^2 = 12

Substitute the value of a as 4

(4)^2 - d^2 = 12

d^2 = 16-12

d^2 = 4

d = √4

d = +/-2
