On Sunday morning at around 8 am, three thieves with knives broke into a residence in Vishwas Nagar, Shahdara, and beat up an elderly couple and their daughter-in-law before fleeing with cash and jewellery valued at Rs 10 lakhs, according to the victims, writes India TV reporter Inderjeet.
When the robbers broke down the door, brandished knives, and demanded the family hand over possessions, Babu Lal Sharma was engrossed in reading the morning newspaper. Babu Lal Sharma, his wife Angoori Devi, and his daughter-in-law Rani Devi were all beaten.
They raided the home and fled with jewellery, cash, and US $6,000 in their possession.
