GIVEN :-

  • A dealer buys 30 wireless sets all at same price.
  • He sells 20 of them at a profit of 16% and 10 of them at loss of 4%.

TO FIND :-

  • Net profit on the deal.

SOLUTION :-

Let price of each wireless set be 'x'.

So , price of 30 sets will be 30x.

He sells 20 of them at 16% profit.

Buying price of 20 sets = 20x

→ Selling price(20 sets) =20x + 16% of 20x

→ Selling price(20 sets)=20x + (16/100)20x

→ Selling price(20 sets) =20x + (320x/100)

→ Selling price(20 sets) =20x + (32x/10)

→ Selling price (20 sets) = 232x/10

He sells 10 of them at 4% loss.

Buying price of 10 sets = 10x

→ Selling price (10 sets) = 10x - 4% of 10x

→ Selling price (10 sets) = 10x - (4/100)10x

→ Selling price (10 sets) = 10x - (4x/10)

→ Selling price (10 sets) = 96x/10

★ Total selling price = (232x/10) + (96x/10)

Total selling price = 328x/10

Total selling price = 32.8x

___________________

% Profit =

→ [(selling price - buying price)/buying price] × 100

→ [(32.8x - 30x)/30x] × 100

→ [2.8x/30x] × 100

→ 0.09 × 100

→ 9%

Hence , there is total 9% of profit.
