Given : A dealer buys an air conditioner marked at ₹ 45,000, at a discount of 20%.

He sells it to the customer at a discount of 10%.

the transactions are in the same state and rate of GST is 28%,

To find :  the SGST payable by the dealer to the State Government on the sale of the air conditioner.

Solution:

dealer buys an air conditioner marked at ₹ 45,000, at a discount of 20%.

Buying price for dealer = 45000 - (20/100)45000 = Rs 36000

SGST = CGST = GST/2 = 28/2 = 14 %

SGST paid by dealer =  (14/100) 36000  Rs

Dealer  sells it to the customer at a discount of 10%.  = 45000 - (10/100)45000  =  40500 Rs

SGST received by dealer = (14/100) 40500  Rs

the SGST payable by the dealer to the State Government

= (14/100) 40500 - (14/100) 36000

= (14/100)4500

=  14 * 45

= 630  Rs

the SGST payable by the dealer to the State Government on the sale of the air conditioner. = 630  Rs
