a dealer purchased a music system for ₹15320. He allows a discount of 12% on its m.p. and gains 10% on it. Find the m.p. of the music system

1. He purchased item for 15320/- and let "x" be the price increased on 15320 which is 15320+x will be marked price and he gives discount of 12% on 15320+x/-.
2. So that he gained profit of 10% on original rate i.e, 15320.10% of 15320 is 1532    ((10/100)*15320=1532)
3. This 1532 will be added to 15320.Hence 15320+1532=16852 is the selling price.
4. On marked price  i.e., 15320+x he gave 12% discount and sold for 16852/

                                       12% decrease

                (15320+x)---------------------------------->16852

From this we get equation [(15320+x-16852)/(15320+x)]*100=12

On solving this we get value of x i.e, 3830/-

Hence marked price is 15320+3830 = 19150/-
