So there are total six possibilities for when a dice is thrown,
and the numbers are 1,2,3,4,5,6
And the only number greater than 5 is 6
So
out of  6 possibilities, there is only one possibility of getting a number greater than 5
therefore the probability is 1/6

a die is thrown once then the total no. of possibilities to get greater than 5 is only 1 it is 6 . total no. of chances 6.
therefore probability=no. of possibilities /total no. of outcomes
=1/6
