____________________________________________________________

The total outcomes when a die is thrown = 6 (1,2,3,4,5,6)

Favorable outcomes ( A no. less than 3) = 2 (1 and 2)

Probability of an event can be determined by:

 \frac{No. of favorable outcomes}{Total outcomes}

 \frac{2}{6}  \frac{1}{3}

So the probability of getting a no. less than three will be  \frac{1}{3}
