A dieter lost 2 pounds in 3 weeks. If he continues to lose at this rate, how many weeks will it take him to loose 24 pounds?

(x) 2 pounds=3weeks
(y) 24pounds=x weeks
Since,there is direct variation x/y=constant.
x=3×24÷2
=36
Answer=36 weeks

or,dieter looses 1 pound in = 3÷2 weeks
or, dieter looses 24 pounds in=( 3÷2)×24
=3×12 ( cancelling 24by 2)
=36 weeks
