16% gain----- 116% of C.P
20% gain----- 120% of C.P
The difference between the two is 200
4% of C.P = 200
4/100 * C.P = 200
C.P = 200*100/4 = 5000 Rs.
Hope it helps.

Let C.P. of the dinner set be Rs. 100

First gain= 16%

∴ First S.P = Rs. (100 + 16) = Rs. 116

Second gain = 20 %

∴ Second S.P = Rs. (100 + 20) = Rs. 120

Difference between the two S.P'.s = Rs.(120 - 116) = Rs. 4

Now,

If the difference is Rs. 4 ,then C.P = Rs. 100

If the difference is Rs. 1 then C.P = Rs. 100/4

If the difference is Rs. 200,then C.P = Rs. 100/4 × 200

= Rs. 5000
