Given:

Discount=7%

Selling price=Rs.465

To find:

The marked price of an article

Solution:

The marked price of an article is Rs.500.

We can find the price by following the steps given below-

Let us assume that the marked price of the article is M.

We know that the discount on an article is given at its marked price.

So, the amount of discount=7% of the marked price

=7% of M

=7M/100

Also, the selling price of an article is the difference between its marked price and discount.

The selling price of an article=Marked price of the article-Amount of discount

On putting the values, we get

465=M-7M/100

465=(100M-7M)/100

465×100=93M

93M=46,500

M=46,500/93

M=500

Therefore, the marked price of an article is Rs.500.
