Given :

A discrete random variable where X follows uniform distribution.

Outcomes : 6 , 8 , 11 , 12 , 17

To Find :

The probability of P( x = 12 )

Solution :

Outcomes are 6 , 8 , 11 , 12 , 17

Formula for  probability =    \dfrac{\textrm{Number of favorable outcomes}}{\textrm{Total number of outcome}}

Total number of outcomes = 5

Given probability is P( X = 12 )

Outcomes when number is equal to 12 = 1

P(X = 12 )   = \dfrac{\textrm{Number of favorable outcomes}}{\textrm{Total number of outcome}}

                 = \frac{1}{5}

Therefore the probability of P(x = 2) is   \frac{1}{5}
