Hello,

Here we go,

As whenever we heat any substance to convert the state for that we need to break the intermolecular attraction between them.

whenever we heat solid to change it into liquid then at hundred degree Celsius the thermometer range doesn't go up because after that the heat produced is used to break the intermolecular attraction between the atoms of solid and this is known as latent heat of fusion.

and when water is converted to liquid then the temperature which is required to break the intermolecular attraction between the atoms of water so that it can get converted into liquid is known as latent heat of vaporization.

I hope my answer will help you
