Given : A dishonest shopkeeper takes 25% more than the indicated weight when he purchases the items from the dealer. he gives 25% less than the indicated weight

Selling price and buying price are same

To Find : Profit

Solution:

Let say CP = SP  = C   Rs per unit

A dishonest shopkeeper takes 25% more than the indicated weight

Qty = Q

Cost  = CQ

Qty received = Q + (25/100)Q = 1.25Q

1.25 Q  cost  = CQ

Q cost = CQ/1.25Q  = C/1.25

0.75Q Cost = 0.75Q C/1.25  =  3CQ/5

he gives 25% less than the indicated weight

SP = CQ

item given =  Q - (25/100)Q  = 0.75Q

0.75Q  SP  =  CQ

CP = 3CQ/5

SP = CQ

Profit = CQ - 3CQ/5  = 2CQ/5

Profit %  =  100 * (2CQ/5)/(3CQ/5)  = 66.67 %
