A diver is able to cut through water in a swimming pool. This shows that particles have space in between them, especially in liquid and gaseous state. No one cut through solids easily as the particles are tightly bound. But in liquid state like water, particles are not tightly bound.

A diver is able to cut through a swimming pool because the particles of matter contains space between them and in water there is intermediate space between the particles and it also intermediate intermolecular force between them . So this observations shows that the particles of matter have space between them or the particles of matter have intermolecular space between them.
