hi..

the doctor has prescribed a lens of power -1.0D .

by the rules of sign convention,

we can say that the patient is suffering from myopia. since the power is negative.

and if so he must have used concave lens. as concave lenses are used here. They spread the light out before it reaches the convex lens in the eye, therefore letting the image focus directly on the retina.
