The ratio of the speeds of dog and cat = 1:1

Given:

A dog takes 22 leaps for every 17 leaps of cat

22 leaps of a dog are equal to 17 leaps of the cat.

To Find:

The ratio of the speeds of dog and cat?

Solution:

Let say in time t  cat takes 17 leap

A dog takes 22 leaps for every 17 leaps of cat

hence in time t dog takes 22 leap

Hence Distance covered by cat in time t  = 17  leap of cat

Distance covered by dog in time t  = 22  leap of dog

22 leaps of a dog are equal to 17 leaps of the cat.

Hence Distance covered by both cat and dog is same in time t

Speed = Distance / Time

Distance and time are same hence speed of cat = Speed of Dog

=> The ratio of the speeds of dog and cat = 1:1

Correct option is a) 1: 1
