Answer: (a)

  • Sertoli cells provide nutrition to the germ cells (spermatogonia).
  • Spermatogonia also known as male germ cells undergo meiotic division finally leading to sperm formation.
  • Leydig cells synthesise and secret testicular hormone called androgens .

Other immunologically competent cells are also present .

(B)

Spermatogenesis starts at the age of puberty due to significant increase in the situation of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH).

The increased levels of gonadotropin then acts at the anterior pituitary gland and stimulates the secretion of two Gonadotropins - lutenising hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).

LH acts at the leydig cells and stimulates synthesis and secretion of androgens . Androgens stimulate the process of spermatogenesis . FSH Acts on the sertoli cells and stimulates secretion of some factors which help in the process of spermiogenesis .

THAT'S IT!

Hope it helps!
