In Esterification reactions , an alcohol is heated with a carboxylic acid in the presence of a dehydrating agent like H2SO4. The end product is an ester.
Example,
CH3COOH + C2H5OH ------> CH3COOC2H5.
Water is also produced but is removed by dehydrating agent.

The IUPAC name of the ester is ethyl ethanoate.
