"Why'd you do it?" His wife's voice came suddenly from behind him, startling him. He didn't respond and instead turned up the volume on the TV, hoping that it would drown out her voice. "Was it the insurance money?" She never shut up. This was the price he paid for what he had done. He had tried to explain things to her. Especially why it shouldn't matter to her now. It was no use. How much more of this could he take? Her voice went on and on, drowning out the TV. Why? She asked. Okay, he would tell her. Again. He stood quickly and turned to face her. "You want to know? I'll tell you. Because you were a NAG. You never shut up. The insurance money was just a nice bonus. I HATED your voice! It was like rubbing tinfoil across my teeth. "SHUT THE HELL UP! " Enraged, he flung the remote directly at her head. Of course, it went straight through her and fell to the floor. She began to fade away and a smile of amusement crossed her face, beneath the ragged bullet hole in her temple. She would be back. She always came back.
