The Old man Hoy is a sea stack formed as a result of hydraulic action method of water erosion. its is formed from a rock that has alternate soft and rock layers.The water action acts on the rock eroding the soft rock away leaving the hard rock layer hunging hence forming staircase making it possible for climbers. it has a little wide top where people climb to relax during tourism.
