(a) Structure of benzene on the basis of hybridization:-
- The molecular formula of benzene is C₆H₆.
- Each carbon atom is sp² hybridized.
- During hybridization, three of the four available orbitals get utilized and every carbon atom is linked to two other carbon atoms.
(b) Ozonolysis
- The process in which unsaturated bonds of alkenes, alkynes, or azo-compounds are cleaved in the presence of ozone is called ozonolysis.
- The mechanism of ozonolysis was proposed by Criegee.
