The prices of union of male and female gamete is known as fertilisation. pollen(male gamete) are carried to the stigma via different pollinators. after the pollen reaches the stigma ,,,pollen germinates producing a pollen tube that carries the sperm nuclei to the ovary. Two sperm nuclei are released in the ovule . One of them fuses with the female gamete (egg); thereby forming the zygote. this process is known as syngamy .The other one fuses with polar nuclei and results in the formation of endosperm . since two fusions are involved it is known as DOUBLE FERTILISATION .
