x^3 - 6x^2 - 6x + 1

= x^3 + 1 - 6x^2 - 6x

= ( x + 1 ) ( x^2 - x + 1 ) - 6x ( x + 1 )

= ( x + 1 ) ( x^2 - x + 1 - 6x )

= ( x + 1 )( x^2 - 7x + 1 )
