Given:-

A family cleans a house for pongal celebration by dividing the work in the ratio 1:2:3.

To Find:-

Each portion of work in the form of percentage

Solution:-

First, let us assume that the work distributed to members is 1x, 2x, and 3x respectively

Now, find the fractional value of the distributed work

⇒ 1x + 2x + 3x = 6x

⇒ 1x / 6x, 2x/6x, and 3x/6x

Hence, the percentage will be calculated by multiplying the fractional value by 100

⇒ (1x/6x) X 100 = 16.6%

⇒ (2x/6x) X 100 = 33.34%

⇒ (3x/6x) X 100 = 50%

Therefore, each portion of work in the form of percentage will be - 16.6%, 33.34%, and 50% respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

A family cleans a house for pongal celebration by dividing the work in the ratio 1:2:3. Express each portion of work as percentage.

  • Let the ratio of work done for Pongal celebration is 1 : 2 : 3
  • So let total work be 100%
  • So we have
  • a + 2a + 3a = 100
  • Or 6a = 100
  • Or a = 100 / 6
  • Or a = 16.66%
  • Now 2a will be 2 x 16.66
  •                     = 33.32%
  • Also 3a will be 3 x 16.66
  •                      = 49.98%
  • Therefore the percentage of work will be 16.66%, 33.32%, 49.98%
