HI FRIEND..........

The total fraction of land given to youngest son = 1 - 1/2 - 1/4 - 1/8 = 8 - 4 - 2 - 1 /8 = 1/8.

So total area given to him = 1/8 × 32 = 4 acres of land.

a). The fraction of the farmer's property that was given to the youngest son = 1/8 .

b). The youngest son got 4 acres of land .

  • The fraction of the farmer's property given to the youngest son

        = ( 1 - 1/2 - 1/4 - 1/8 ) = 1/8

  • If the farmer had 32 acres of land then the acres of land the youngest son got = ( 1 / 8 ) * 32

                     = 4 acres
