Answer:

Farmer has 17 hens.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let 'h' be the no. of hens

Let 'g' be the no. of goats

Total eyes = 60

Total feet = 86

Hens have 2 eyes and also goats have 2 eyes each

So, the equation will be:

2h + 2g = 60

Similarly,

Hens have 2 feet and goats have 4 feet each.

So, equation will be:

2h + 4g = 86

Lets find the difference of above to equations.

2h + 2g - (2h + 4g) = 60 -86

-2g = - 26

g = 13

No. of goats = 13

Substitute above value in first equation.

2h + 2*13 = 60

2h = 60 - 26

2h = 34

h = 17

No. of hens = 17
