a farmer moves along the boundary of a square field of side 10 m in 40 seconds. what will be the magnitude of displacement of the farmer at the end of 2 minutes 20 seconds and what is the total distance covered by him​

displacement = 5m

total distance = 35m

Explanation:

perimeter of square = 4 x side = 4 x 10 = 40 m

Speed of farmer = distance/time

           = 10/40 = 0.25 m/s

2 minutes 20 seconds = 2 x 60 + 20 seconds

= 140 seconds

distance = speed x time

              = 0.25 x 140 = 35 m

Since the perimeter of field is 40 m ,

the farmer is (40 - 35 ) m from the starting point

= 5 m from starting point

:.  total distance coverede= 35m

   displacement = 5m
