Given:

  • Farmer moves along the boundary of a square field of side 10 m in 40seconds.

To Find :

  • What will be the magnitude of displacement of the farmer at the end of 2 minutes 20 seconds

Solution :

Side of square = 10m

Perimeter = 4×side = 4 × 10 = 40m

2min 20sec = 2×60 + 20 = 120 + 20 = 140sec

No. of rounds can be completed by farmer in 140sec = 140/40 = 3.5 rounds

Displacement after one round = 0

Displacement after two rounds = 0

Displacement after three rounds = 0

Displacement after three and half round = diagonal of square = √{(10)² + (10)²} = √(100 + 100) = √200 = 14.14m
