let the age of son be x

then, his father's age=3x

after 15 years

son's age=x+15

father's age=3x+15=2(x+15)

Now you can get the answer by solving the equation:

3x+15=2(x+15)

after solving son's age will be x years

and father's age will be 3x years

Answer:

Let the present age of son be "y"

Therefore the age of father is 3 times older=3y

After 15 years the age of father will be twice the age of son. That is,2(y+15)=3y+15

expand it, 2×y+2×15=3y+15 2y+30=3y+15 3y+15=2y+30

3y-2y+15=30 y+15=30

therefore y=30-15=15

That is,the present age of son is 15 and that of father is 3×15=45

After 15 years it will be,15+15=30 and 45+15=60

60 is the double of 30
