let the present age of father be x
son's age will be x-30
After 5yrs,
Father=x+5
son=x-30+5=x-25
a/q,
x+5=3×(x-25)
so, x+5=3x-75
so, 2x=80
so,x=40= father's present age.
Thanks.

Answer:

The present age of the father is 40 years.

Given that :

  • Father is = 30 years older than his son.

  • After 5 years = Father will be three times the age of his son

To find :

  • Father's present age

______________________________

Let the present ages be -

  1. Son as y
  2. Father as (30 + y)

Ages after 5 years -

Son = (y + 5)

Father = (30 + y) + 5

⇒ 3(y + 5) = (30 + y) + 5

⇒ 3y + 15 = 30 + y + 5

⇒ 3y + 15 = 35 + y

⇒ 3y - y = 35 - 15

⇒ 2y = 20

⇒ y = 20/2

⇒ y = 10

Son's present age = 10 years

Value of (30 + y)

⇒ 30 + 10

⇒ 40

\thereforeThe present age of the father is 40 years.
